How to get rid of a headache before it appears

Generally, headaches appear as a result of some substances your body needs. It may be:

Lack of water
    Lack of oxygen
    Lack of protein

The causes, however, don’t resume to the ones above, and are usually more complex than that. Headaches come in several types: primary, secondary and neuralgias. Each type has its causes, symptoms and remedies.

Primary headaches are migraine, tension, and cluster headaches than are affecting the quality of life.  For some people they occur occasionally and pass in a matter of hours, while for others they can be debilitating for days.

Secondary headaches occur as a result of an underlying structural problem in the head or neck.

Neuralgias are described as a group of headaches occurring as a result of the inflammation of the nerves in the head and upper neck.

Here are some things you can change in your lifestyle that will decrease the duration and the intensity of those nasty headaches:

·         Sleep as long as you need.  The majority of people need around 7 to 8 hours to properly rest.
·         Get fresh air every day.  Walk around the block, meet a friend downtown and have your drinks outside. Play with your dog in a nearby park. All these are incredible opportunities to oxygenate your brain.

·         Work out. Exercising 30 minutes a day should become a routine. It should be like brushing your teeth. Even if you don’t feel like it, studies have shown that if you watch your favorite show or listen to the music you like while exercising, it take you up to one minute to get into the mood.
·         Take a hot shower and insist on the areas that feel tense when having a headache ( the neck, the shoulders, the back)

·         Massage the neck.  Many of the headaches begin from there, as the tension in the neck muscles can irradiate pain in the head.

Parents vote worst kids trends: no Angry Birds, no Monster High

Parents have spoken!

Among the trends that kids need to say goodbye to this year, there are the Angry Birds clothes and accessories and the Monster High anything! And things do not stop here. Graphic T-shirts, bikinis for babies and other odd looking fashion options are about to be history.

Here is the list of kids fashion trends that parents have voted out:

Angry Birds clothing and accessories. The game app could be famous but it is actually its popularity that got the parents fed up with the poofy angry-looking birds. They seem to be everywhere, so getting them off their children’s clothes seems like common sense.

Monster High-inspired looks. Monster High is a brand of dolls by Mattel which don’t look like the regular pretty blondes, who are the most popular in high school. On the contrary, they look like freaks and hide under skimpy clothes and heavy make-up. The Monster High-inspired fashion takes the kids from one extreme to another: from clean-cut shiny smiling Barbie to imperfect, weird-looking dark-sexy Barbie. The parents have noticed the same unreal fashion icon, which is unhealthy for their offspring to follow.

Baby bikinis. The fashion is moving aggressively towards sexualizing children. Even toddlers have bikinis these days. Far from being practical (a toddler still wearing a diaper could never wear a bikini), the sexy bathing suits look extremely weird on the babies’ chubby bodies. The same goes for padded bras for girls on elementary school.

In conclusion, parents believe it’s not flattering for their kids to wear adult clothes, even if made in their size. Also, no sparkling make-up, no feathers in their hair and no graphic tees.

Man gets head reshaped after horrific accident

Tim Barter, a 32-year-old British man recently underwent a plastic surgery in order to get his head reshaped.  In June 2009, Barter, who works as a visual effects director on the Doctor Who series, suffered a horrific accident, after falling 25 feet off a drainpipe.  The doctors used fat from his stomach to reconstruct the natural shape of his head.

The last two years and a half have been extremely different for Tim Barter. After falling 25 feet (approximately 7.5 meters) off a drainpipe he was trying to use to get into his home, he suffered an accident that changed him physically more than he could have ever imagined.  The day of the accident, he realized he locked himself out of his own home and he figured he could get inside through a window he had left open in the upper floor.  He didn’t make it. The neighbors found him unconscious and heavily wounded and called an ambulance.  He was in a coma for 10 days and when he woke up, he realized the consequences. Tim had had a brain hemorrhage, a broken leg and a shatter cheekbone and eye socket.

In order to release the brain hemorrhage, Tim had to be operated. Part of his skull was removed. He had titanium plates inserted in his head in order to shape his eye socket and his cheek and to hold the bones.  For months, the 32-year-old-until-then-active man was held indoors by his recovery process.

The most recent procedure Tim Barter underwent is the one of head reconstruction.  The procedure was developed at King's College Hospital in London, where the surgeons used the patient’s belly fat to for reshaping.  Dr. Bentley and Tim gave more details on the surgery on BBC’s Breakfast, on March 1.
