How to get rid of a headache before it appears

Generally, headaches appear as a result of some substances your body needs. It may be:

Lack of water
    Lack of oxygen
    Lack of protein

The causes, however, don’t resume to the ones above, and are usually more complex than that. Headaches come in several types: primary, secondary and neuralgias. Each type has its causes, symptoms and remedies. 

Primary headaches are migraine, tension, and cluster headaches than are affecting the quality of life.  For some people they occur occasionally and pass in a matter of hours, while for others they can be debilitating for days. 

Secondary headaches occur as a result of an underlying structural problem in the head or neck. 

Neuralgias are described as a group of headaches occurring as a result of the inflammation of the nerves in the head and upper neck.

Here are some things you can change in your lifestyle that will decrease the duration and the intensity of those nasty headaches:

·         Sleep as long as you need.  The majority of people need around 7 to 8 hours to properly rest.
·         Get fresh air every day.  Walk around the block, meet a friend downtown and have your drinks outside. Play with your dog in a nearby park. All these are incredible opportunities to oxygenate your brain.

·         Work out. Exercising 30 minutes a day should become a routine. It should be like brushing your teeth. Even if you don’t feel like it, studies have shown that if you watch your favorite show or listen to the music you like while exercising, it take you up to one minute to get into the mood.
·         Take a hot shower and insist on the areas that feel tense when having a headache ( the neck, the shoulders, the back)

·         Massage the neck.  Many of the headaches begin from there, as the tension in the neck muscles can irradiate pain in the head.
